How divorce case tracking works

When you order through SimpleDivorce, your case status updates as it moves through our workflow. Received means we have your questionnaire and payment. In Preparation means a case specialist is preparing your state-specific divorce forms. Filing means your signed documents are being filed with the court (and, if requested, your spouse is being served). Filed means your documents are on the court's docket. Completed means your final divorce decree and documents have been delivered to you.

You do not have to keep checking this page. We send email notifications at each step, from the moment we receive your case to the day your final decree is delivered, so you always know where your divorce stands without logging in.

Tracking a divorce you filed elsewhere

If you filed on your own or hired an attorney, there is usually no public tracker beyond the court's docket system. Most courts let you look up a case by number on their website. The most reliable option is to contact the court clerk or your attorney and reference your case number.

Timelines vary by state, the court's processing, and any statutory waiting period. Document preparation is typically 5-7 business days once we have your questionnaire, with expedited and rush options available. You can review the current expectations on our state timelines page.
